No You Can Not

2020-07-03 by Dave Starr 2 Comments

Please Don’t Come Now.

I don’t have a lot to report on this issue, but it keeps coming up.

Just like the brand new EU” ban on US visitors, the Philippines has a “no foreigners” ban in place.

If you are not a Filipino (or a foreigner legally married to a Philippine citizen) DO NOT show up at a Philippine port of entry.

You will NOT be admitted

When will this restriction be lifted?

Don’t bug your airline, the Manila airport, or even the Philippine Bureau of Immigration.  None of them has any control.  The restrictions are by the order of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF).

This IATF is chaired by the President of the Philippines.

They will make the necessary decisions at the proper times.

Kindly cooperate

    Hi Dave,

A hypothetical question for you. No admittance of foreigners at this time unless married to a Philippine Citizen. What about those of Legal same sex marriage in the USA but may not qualify for the entry of the USA citizen to Philippines because same sex marriage is not legal there.

Hi Bob, nice to see you. A good question but one I am totally unable to answer. I have no experience in how same-sex marriages would be treated by Philippine Immigration officers. I would suggest you (or anyone else interested in this)write a brief, polite email to xinfo@immigration.gov.ph

      Clearly state if

      1. will the partners will be traveling together
      2. the citizenship of both partners
      3. the proposed length of stay in the Philippines

That email is the help desk at the Bureau of Immigration Operations Center in Manila and they have helped me out with answers to my questions in the past.

      Good luck
