How to Live in the Philippines.
That’s the main thrust of my whole blogging effort. But it’s frustrating at times. Why?
Mainly because so many of the people who drop by here are just incapable of believing in themselves and realizing that the reason we (yes all of us) are put on this earth is to “be” what we want to be, NOT what other people SAY we must be.
I Call “Stinking Thinking” on this
“Stinking Thinking” is a term I borrowed from the 12 Steps Program, practiced by Alcoholics Anonymous and other substance abuse recovery organizations.
It refers to the way people wil grasp at whatever straws they can in order to blame someone else for their addiction.
We all suffer from this “stinking thinking” to some degree or another, but some of us find the inner strength to overcome it. If you want to join that group, I’m here to help.
But remember, it’s your own damn fault.
So is another blogging colleague of mine, Ryan Biddulph who wrote this great article, I want you to go and read it. Go ahead, take your time, I’ll wait:
But This Guy Isn’t Living in the “Real World”, Dave, We Have To.
Do you? Really?
I say no you do not.
You’re “stuck” where you are for one reason and one reason only. It’s your own damn fault.
Recently my good friend Paul Thompson wrote an excellent article on this topic. Sometimes I wonder if Paul’s my “brother from another mother”
If you’re wishing you could be here, but sad that you “just can’t”, you’ll like this article too:
It’s All Up To You
… One of the best things Paul says in his article is this:
You’re now safely at work, and prior to making the boss his (Her) money you log on to a Philippine Website (LiP I’ll wager!) and read about others who have escaped the rat race and slid quietly towards the equator.
Oh you want to do it, you’ve paid your dues, when does the fun in your life start?…..
That’s The Real Question Boys and Girls
When are you going to decide that “when” is now?
- It’s not up to someone else.
- It’s not dependent on your age (frankly, younger is better and smarter)
- It’s not up to when your kids finish school (you can raise them here, perhaps even better than the USA)
- It’s not up to working five more years to get 10% more retirement income
- It’s certainly not up to family or friends who will call you crazy … they want you to stay and slog with them. It’s often called the “Crab Mentality” or “schadenfreude“, pleasure derived by someone from another person’s misfortune.
It’s strictly up to you. Not to “Them”.
There’s Plenty of Help For You
In addition to the thousands of hours I’ve spent writing here, and the thousands more Bob has put into his site and books, you can get customized, direct and totally private consulting from people who actually live here and walk the walk, not just talk the talk.
So how many more winters will you spend suffering and “wishing” before you wise up and learn how to Live in the Philippines?
