Make Big Money (A Bit At A Time) Online.
I’ve written a lot about making money online in the Philippines. One of my better previous articles is here:
Message for Today — You Can Too.
Here’s a neat article which just came in from a long-time online colleague of mine, RT Cunningham. RT has been living here in the Philippines a long time now and has been in and out of a number of ventures. Today he’s telling us about a new venture he’s testing out Fiverr.com. Fiverr is a site where you can offer to do just about anything for anyone for the price of five dollars USD.
Five Dollars Plus Five Dollars Plus Five Dollars Can Add Up.
Now taking on tasks (gigs) five dollars at a time may not sound like a strategy to rapidly exceed Warren Buffett’s income, but making money $5 at a time is infinitely better than sitting around, perusing FaceBook, telling anyone who will listen how hard it is being broke. Your are only broke becuase of YOU. The fact you are happier being broke than making money says it all.
Interesting Warren Buffet sidebar. Warren was making money from a very early age. He filed his first US Income Tax return in 1944, when he was 14 years old. But almost all his business ventures up until high school were from his own direct efforts … selling things door to door, delivering newspapers, etc. There are only so many hours in a day, and therefore only so much of “Warren” to go around.
The first business Warren started which made him money while he slept is interesting.
He bought a used pinball machine and placed it in an Omaha barber shop and collected the nickels the machine earned once a week, reinvesting those nickels in more and more machines placed in more and more barber shops. Don’t EVER think you can’t get rich a nickel (or five dollars) at a time.
So Back To My Colleague and Fiverr
Here’s what RT wrote about taking on Fiverr gigs:
I’ve suffering from an extreme lack of motivation. There are two things that motivate me to write, money and feedback. I can suffer without the feedback as long as I’m making good money. If I’m not getting feedback and I’m not making good money, I don’t feel like doing much of anything when it comes to my own websites…
And her’s the comment I just left on his article.
Congrats on taking the plunge. Many people have leveraged their first few $5 gigs into respectable side hustle incomes. My colleague Nick Loper has written about Fiverr extensively … example http://www.sidehustlenation.com/first-year-on-fiverr/
What holds many of us back is the quest for that magic online formula that will suddenly blossom to provide all our desired income in one shot.
A much more viable strategy is to select just one single monthly expense and develop an income stream that will cove just that bill. Then select the next monthly bill that has to be paid and develop an income stream that will cover that one, and so on. Lather, rinse, repeat.
So My Message To You Readers Today Is:
What did I do today to move my business forward? Well, among other things, I wrote this article. How long will it take me to make five dollars from this article alone? A couple days, a few weeks, I can’t really say. But make money it will, and articles I wrote more than ten years ago still earn me money (even when I’m sleeping). A little bit at a time really adds up, if you get at it and keep at it.
Don’t waste your time reading and studying and “learning”. Spend your time “doing”, it’s far more profitable and satisfying.
I’ll close with this very appropriate video from my colleague, John Chow:
This is how you Make Big Money (A Bit At A Time) Online.
