Even though it is still a big problem, I would have to say that the Philippines has made many strides in the right direction towrds making this unsavory business less prominet and more subdued. But truth be told there are still way, way too many foreign men who just see the Philippines as a ‘sin stop’ on the road through life. Not much can be done except to report on things honestly and live by example.

I do always get a bit of amazement though at the double standard of my own country. I lived for years on the border of the city limits of Colorado Springs and the surrounding built up area. It’s easy to tell where the border is even without a map … there is always a little enclave of “massage parlors” in the strip malls along the roads. People _think_ there is no substantial sex trade in the US, but self-delusion is indeed a popular US pastime … it all happens in _those_ countries, not in _our_ country. Oh well.
