As many of you have already there was another large earthquake/after shock in the sea off Miyagi prefecture, Japan last night, Philippine/Japanese time. This one was much smaller and no significant injuries/damage has been reported.
So the work these guys are doing will, I believe, go on unhindered.
Sendai airport was not fully open until 28 March following the tsunami on 11 March. The first C-17s, however, were going into Sendai on 20 March after the USAF’s 320th special tactics squadron and JSDF personnel cleared the runway.
This is what your USAF does. yeah, the one that 98% of the American public no longer is a part of … especially those Americans in leadership roles.
And here’s one of the guys who works to make rescue efforts like this happen, who by the way, won’t get paid if you allow this idiotic government shutdown nonsense to happen.
And one of the reasons we still spend money on the world’s most capable air force, even though it would be more convenient to spend the money on paying BP executives whopping bonuses for polluting the gulf od Mexico.

I don't think it needs one. Read the article about the "Safety Awards" and tell me what's wrong with this picture.
Exactly who the hell is running the country back there, folks? Please read: BP Parent Company Transocean Gives Executives Bonuses For “Safety Performance”
I really don’t write many posts like this and I probably won’t write many more … but while most Americans I meet seem to be hung up on this stupid, wheel-spinning ‘Red’/'Blue’ debate, it seems to me the country is running hard to display an abject ignorance and lack of care for the citizens on both sides of the aisle as well as down the middle.
And Americans like to rant about the faults and foibles of the Philippine government? Look in the mirror folks. Look in the mirror.

Dave:
Like you, I have little patience anymore for US political debate. And one party is just as bad as the other. It is naive to believe that anyone in government has the public’s interest at heart, whether in the Philippines or the United States.
So, I ignore the talking heads on TV, pay my taxes with a hearty “F-U Uncle Sam”, and go about the business of living my life.
I do find it interesting that so many of the expats that are “experts” here on how they “know” how to fix the Philippines are the same “experts” who toe one or the other party’s line in the States… Go figure.
And don’t even get me started on the utterly asinine “birther” debate….
John Miele (ID 5756) » Yes I was struck by the makeup of the team on this one … talk about bi-partisan screwing of the American people. Oh well ..
Dave and John;
I tried to follow the political agenda of the American Goverment both Rep and Dem and you know what their both messed up all they do is play good cop bad cop on the American people.
I always tell people that this is not the Goverment I grew up in they stopped representing the American people along time ago. Both parties have their own personnel agenda and it’s to benefit them not US.
So does it really matter as long as I get my retirment pay and benifits that I EARNED I’m as happy as a pig in shit.
The blame game is alive and well in America. No more politics for me I’m just going to vote for the person I believe will screw me the least. Other than that I have a move to make in 24 months that’s priority number one.
I know. I get frustrated by the Filipino penchant to assign blame to everyone, personally. Every pothole in the road is Marcos’ fault, etc. But why wouldn’t they be that way, thy are only copying the USA. We have a tremendous financial crisis on out hands and people argue about it being Bush’s fault or Clinton’s or Obama’s, or Abe Lincoln’s etc.
It doesn’t matter whose ‘fault” it is folks, and it can’t be left to ‘stew’ until 2012. We’re going broke and we aren’t cutting enough and raising taxes enough to fix it. God help whomever wins in 2012, s/he is going to need divine intervention for sure.
