TRICARE Demo Program declared Successful
My friend and colleague “Naga Jim” just wrote a very interesting post on the probability of TRICARE in the Philippines sinking ever farther into the mud: If you use TRICARE or plan to, read this.
Renewing Your US Passport in the Philippines
Secondly on US Passport renewals in the Philippines. If you need to renew your passport or will need to soon, make sure you read this page: Renew the 10-Year validity Adult Passport
The embassy now accepts US Dollar Demand Drafts from two additional Philippine banks, BDO bank and Security bank.
Passport Processing Times
Reader “Joe’ (not his real name) recently renewed his US passport using the payment via dollar demand draft method. It worked but apparently adds several weeks to the process becuase the demand draft has to clear back in the USA. It’s convenient not to have to travel to the Embassy (or to the US Consulate, Cebu) but be sure to factor in the increased processing time in your plans.
Old To New Visa Stamp Transfer
Reader “Joe” also brought something to my attention I haven’t covered before. If you have Philippine visa stamps in your old passport and want the stamps transferred to your new one, the PI Immigration office at Clark (Angles City) (Marquee Mall) will do this for you cheaply (as in FREE) and quickly. If you need this service and do not happen to live near Angeles City, check with your hearest BI Office. Hat’s off to the BI for making what used to be an arduous process simple.
