If this is the kind of place you were thinking about when envisioning where you might stay in the Philippines, then I have an answer for you.

Not ‘the answer, because with 7100 plus islands there are nearly that many places to stay in the Philippines, but this, indeed, is a beauty.

It’s also on the island of Negros … far from the madding crowd. 

There are a ton of expats living in Baguio, Cebu and Davao … and these are all indeed nice places too … but everyone goes there.

There are many other places equally as nice … in some cases far nicer that most foreigners ever even consider … unless their spouse hails from the place.

The island of Negros is one place that should be on many people’s list.  It’s in the Visayas (Central Philippines), essentially away from typhoons, not subject to daily travel warnings about Muslim extremists and (for the few who are still inspired by a steam whistle) home to some of the world’s last steam-powered commercial railroads.

I have not (yet) been to the Palamas del Mar but it’s been highly recommended to me by several American friends and it meets my criteria of having a website and being reachable from overseas … perhaps if I keep featuring a few of these places the ones who haven’t caught on to the whole Internet thing will wake up and smell the coffee.
